First Reading: (Amos 7:12-15). The prophet Amos stands his ground as he is threatened by the priest Amaziah. Amos has the strength of God with him.

Second Reading: (Eph. 1:3-14) In this long hymn there is a great act of thanksgiving for all God’s great gifts to us, Sonship, the Holy Spirit, a share in his own life through love.

Responsorial Psalm: (Ps. 122) Let us see, O Lord, your mercy and give us your saving help.

The Gospel: (Mark 6:7-13) In this familiar passage we hear Jesus sending out his representatives as poor men. Their very poverty is a sign of their trust in God for the effectiveness of their work.

Please collect your copy of the July-September from the Sacristy.

Fr John’s Retreat

As said a few weeks ago, I will not be taking a holiday between now and the end of September. I will however be on Retreat for a week as I need to discern whether I should accept a position in The Vatican, that is if it is offered to me which is a bit unlikely!! Our former Archbishop Michael Bowen tells how when he retired and had the title Archbishop EMERITUS someone congratulated him on being made Bishop of the Emirates. So strange things can happen.

Peter's Pence

As announced last Sunday the ‘Flower Wall safe’ near the Sacristy has been re-named “Peter’s Pence” from now until the end of Sept 2018. So that we as a parish can continue to assist Pope Francis with works of charity for the poor throughout the world.
