Faith and Culture Mass : All Parishioners Followed by Unity Lunch in the Parish Hall

First Reading: (Acts 1: 15-17, 20-26). The Disciples meet to choose a successor to Judas, who committed suicide out of remorse for betraying Jesus to the authorities who wanted to arrest him.

Second Reading: (1 John 4: 11-16). Since God has loved us, we should love one another: this is to be the mark of the Christina community.

Responsorial Psalm: (Ps. 40) Heal my soul for I have sinned against you.

The Gospel: (Jn 17:11-19). Jesus prays for his disciples, that their unity in love should reflect that of Jesus and the Father.

Congratulatios to Confirmation Candidates

Our Confirmation Candidates successfully completed their programme and were confirmed by Bishop Pat Lynch on Thursday. Their celebration went extremely well and they made everyone very proud at the way they conducted themselves at the ceremony. Well done all 26 candidates. Please continue to keep them in your prayers.

We will be in the porch after each Mass this week if you could please volunteer. If you live outside the Parish boundary but you consider St Thomas More your parish, then please take a form with you and return it to the presbytery on completion as soon as possible by post or by hand. Thank you.

Advance Notice

The Lesnes Abbey Procession of the Blessed Sacrament will take place on Sunday afternoon of June 24th at 3pm. Children who have celebrated their First Holy Communion here at St Thomas More will join with First Communicants from other parishes in the Deaneries of Bexley and Greenwich. It has been a very special day since 1970 . It takes place on the site of the ruins of an Augustinian Monastery founded in reparation for the murder of St. Thomas a Beckett in Canterbury Cathedral. It was sacked during the reign of King Henry VIII. Incidentally, the Monks were the first to try curb the flooding of the Thames River. In the woods behind the Ruins, shark’s teeth were discovered in recent times. So there must have been a natural upheaval in the not so distant past.

Bexley Deanery Retreat

Very Disappointing:

Reflections on the Place of Mary in our personal lives and in the life of the Church. The attendance at Tues. May 8th consisted of Fr. John, the projectionist and two parishioners, surely we can do better or have I got it all wrong? Maybe, however we will complete the presentations as planned. The next date is May 15th at 7.30pm in Our lady’s Chapel.

Catechist's Course

We will be meeting again on Monday 14th May, starting in the Church at 7pm.

Parish Faith and culture day

Please bring your food to the hall before the 11am Mass. We are still hoping for people to contribute to the Mass by suggesting a hymn that you think would be appropriate which you can teach the choir. Thank you for your support and co-operation.
