Come Holy Spirit

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of the faithful and
enkindle in them the fire of your love.
Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created.
And You shall renew the face of the earth.

O, God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit did instruct the
hearts of the faithful, grant that by the same Holy Spirit we
may be truly wise and ever enjoy His consolations,
through Christ our Lord, Amen.

Perhaps you could pray this prayer for our Confirmation Group of 26 candidates as they make their final preparations for the big celebration.

Your Help is required with the parish census

Many thanks to those who took away their bundles for delivery last week. We have got all the addresses done now so if you can help us to deliver the final batches of census envelopes in your street/road, or those close to you they are available for you to collect in the porch area after every mass again this weekend. If you live outside the Parish boundary but you consider St Thomas More your parish, then please take a form with you and return it to the presbytery on completion as soon as possible by post or by hand.

Thank you.

|Catechists Course

A big thank you to all who attended the first night of the course, the overall consensus was that it went well and was very enjoyable. We will be meeting again on Monday 14th May, starting in the Church at 7pm.

Reflections

Reflections on the Place of Mary in our personal lives and in the life of the Church. Fr John has purchased a DVD which has short inputs by very well-known Catholic speakers, male and female, among them Cardinal Vincent Nichols, Dr Sarah Boss, Dr Mary Healy, Fr Jim McManus and Mons. John Armitage Director of the Walsingham Shrine. Fr John encourages you to come along to the Church on May 8th, 15th, 22nd and the 29th starting at 7.30pm. Please spread the word and bring your friends too. A limited number of an accompanying book will be available.

Commissioning of Eucharistic Ministers

For those who have accepted Fr John’s invitation to be Eucharistic Ministers in our Parish there is a special commissioning day for you at Aylesford on Saturday 12 May 10am-4pm with the Mass and Commissioning celebrated by Bishop Paul Mason at 2.30pm. Fr John invites you to a preparatory meeting on Wednesday 9th May at 8pm in the presbytery.

Parish Eucharistic Ministers

As announced above, there will a Commissioning ceremony for new candidates at Aylesford. This will augment our present number of ministers. It is worth remembering that this ministry was never meant to be a once for ever ministry in a person’s life. It was meant to rotate, but has tended to become permanent in parishes, ours included. I wish to thank sincerely our parishioners who have faithfully ministered to our parish for many years in this capacity. So with the advent of new ministers if any of you wish to ‘step down’. Fr John will accept and respect your decision, while once again saying thank you for your commitment over the years.

Guides

The Guides wish to thank you for your great support last Sunday in helping to raise the funds for equipment for their trip to Switzerland next year. They will also be hosting a BEETLE DRIVE on the 21st June 6pm – 8pm in the church hall. This is a fun evening, the rules will be explained on the night. The evening is always lively and there are prizes available along with refreshments and a raffle.

Parish Faith and culture day

In preparation for our ‘Unity Lunch’ following the Mass on Pentecost Sunday, 20th May at 11am, members of the team will be asking you today and the next 2 Sundays, to sign up to bring and share your dish for the day. Financial contributions are welcome, but we are hoping that you could contribute food rather than money. We will also be looking for people to contribute to the Mass either by volunteering to read a bidding prayer in your native language or suggest a hymn that you think would be appropriate for the celebration which you can teach the choir. Thank you for your support and co-operation.
