Once again Happy Easter.

I am the great sun
From a normandy crucifix of 1632 - Charles Causley

I am the great sun, but you do not see me,
I am your husband, but you turn away.
I am the captive, but you do not free me,
I am the captain but you do not obey.
I am the truth, but you do not believe me,
I am the city where you will not stay.
I am your wife, your child, but you will leave me,
I am that God to whom you will not pray.
I am your counsel, but you will not hear me,
I am your lover whom you will betray.
I am the victor, but you will not cheer me,
I am the holy dove whom you will slay.
I am your life, but if you will not name me,
Seal up your soul with tears, and never blame me.

Parish census revisited

Plans are afoot to make a new census of our parish community. The last one having been created in 2004. Obviously we will be appealing for your help and cooperation with the census information, but it will just be delivery as there will be a pre-paid envelope included in the outgoing envelope. On the last occasion you did great work in distributing the forms and I am sure it will be equally good this time, or even better.

We are beginning our course for those interested in becoming catechists on Monday April 23rd @ the Presbytery. The course will consist of 4 sessions concluding with a mini retreat. If you are interested, no previous experience is necessary nor preferred age group, as the course is to help discover both our own faith and to whom we may feel enabled to pass it on to.

New Pascal Candle Stand

Created from wood salvaged from the trees that were cut down in the church grounds, will be used for the first time this Easter. The older stand which has served the purpose for many years is in need of some repair. Have you seen it? What do you think of the craftsmanship from a lump of home-grown timber?

A day for singers and musicians at
Hartley Hall, Catford
Saturday 28th April - 10:00 - 16:00

An invitation has been extended to all our parish singers and musicians at all Masses to join the Lewisham choir for a day of liturgical music lead by the SE catechetical advisor from the Diocesan Centre for Catholic Formation. All are welcome even if you aren’t yet a member of the Parish Choirs, but are interested in learning some new music and skills. There is also a shared lunch. Please speak either to Jacquie or Fr John if you are interested. Transport can be arranged as parking in Catford is horrendous so please let us know ASAP to allow for a little forward planning.

Parish Faith and culture day

last year 2017, we celebrated our DAY on Sunday October 8th with Mass at 11am. It was a great day in the life of our Parish. Some weeks later it struck Fr. John that really Pentecost Sunday is the ideal day for such a celebration as on that day there were many nationalities together in Jerusalem, Greeks, Romans, Cretans, and Elamites etc. So, the proposal is that for 2018 we celebrate our Parish Faith and Culture Day on Pentecost Sunday May 20th with Mass at 11am. Fr John would welcome parishioner’s views.
