Requiem Mass for the Late Mrs Jean Ada Maud Glenny

The funeral will take place on Wednesday 11th April 2018 at St Thomas More Church at 10am. The committal will be held at Eltham Crematorium at 11.45am

Alleluia. He is risen. Alleluia Again:

He is alive, death is defeated. Easter is about a change beyond our wildest dreams. Easter is seeing promise fulfilled before our very eyes. Easter is about the body. We all know that the body will die, stop moving, stop breathing, stop feeling. Death is the monster always lurking with intent, always out for the kill. Easter beats the monster because the ‘dead’ Jesus is ‘Risen’ out of death. Alleluia. Easter is a revelation, a realised promise, not only Jesus but for all us human beings. ‘Death, where is thy sting? Grave, where is thy victory?’ He is risen Alleluia.

I arise today in power and might I call upon the Trinity with faith in the threesome, And trust in the oneness of the great world’s Maker. I arise today in power and might Of Christ’s birth and baptism. His crucifixion and burial, His resurrection, His Ascension, His coming anew to judge mankind.

Easter - CM Streeter O.P. (1983)

Wooden bed of “Yes”
Your arms release the sleeper.
He leaves behind the journey-shoes of time.
But flesh he takes
Singing into glory!
Awakened One tend us
Walking weary in our worn out shoes
Quicken us
With your spirit-word and teach our flesh to sing.

Parish census revisited

Plans are afoot to make a new census of our parish community. The last one having been created in 2004. Obviously we will be appealing for your help and cooperation with the census information, but it will just be delivery as there will be a pre-paid envelope included in the outgoing envelope. On the last occasion you did great work in distributing the forms and I am sure it will be equally good this time, or even better.

Catechist's Course

We are beginning our course for those interested in becoming catechists on Monday April 23rd @ the Presbytery. The course will consist of 4 sessions concluding with a mini retreat. If you are interested, no previous experience is necessary nor preferred age group, as the course is to help discover both our own faith and to whom we may feel enabled to pass it on to. Please speak either to Jacquie or Fr John if you are interested. Transport will be arranged as parking in Catford is horrendous.

Message from Fr. John
