First Reading: (Jer 3:1:31-34). Jeremiah proclaims a new kind of covenant. It is to be written not on stones, but deep in our heart.

Second Reading: (Heb 5:7-9). Jesus, Son of God, submitted himself so humbly that his prayer was heard. Because of his suffering, his intercession for us has become the source of our salvation.

Responsorial Psalm: (Ps. 50) A pure heart create for me O Lord.

The Gospel: (Jn 12:20-23). Unless the wheat grain falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single grain. But if it dies, it yields a rich harvest. Jesus has died for us, and brought us reconciliation and life eternal.

Lent: 5th Week
Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession)

Sin is a fact of life for all of us. Jesus came to be with us sinners not because we are good people who at time do bad things but because we are good people who at times do knowingly do bad things. In other words, we sin. Sin is bad for us, Jesus is with us to save us from our sins. To forgive us. He’s very happy being with sinners, not because he agrees with us in our sin, but because he knows that deep down we are good and searching for happiness. He wants that happiness for sinners that is for us. His forgiveness is not of the past, it is of the NOW. We all struggle, but the good news is that Jesus loves strugglers.

Improving your Marriage

A Marriage Encounter Weekend is an opportunity for a husband and wife to deepen and renew their relationship. It’s a weekend for couples with average/good marriages to help them make them a bit better. Many couples have been enriched by such a weekend. Here is your opportunity to join them: On April 28/29 there will be a marriage encounter weekend (not residential) in Purley, Croydon at St Margaret Roper primary School. More details from Philip and Mary Pond on 0208 651 2477 or

Parish census revisited

Plans are afoot to make a new census of our parish community. The last one having been created in 2004. Obviously we will be appealing for your help and cooperation with the census information, but it will just be delivery as there will be a pre-paid envelope included in the outgoing envelope. On the last occasion you did great work in distributing the forms and I am sure it will be equally good this time, or even better.

New sound system

The possibility of acquiring a new sound system was discussed at the Parish Council on Thursday and we are awaiting some quotes.
