First Reading: (1 Sam. 3:3-10, 19). This reading tells us of the call of the prophet Samuel who has been given a specific task in the household of God. Samuel’s response was a generous willingness to listen to what the Lord was going to ask him to do.

Second Reading: (1 Cor. 6:13-15, 17-20). We are not just a group of individuals: we are the Body of Christ, the temple of the Holy Spirit, and we belong to one another.

Responsorial Psalm: (Ps. 115) I will walk in the presence of the Lord in the land of the living.

The Gospel: (Jn 1:35-42). This reading tells us of the call of two of the disciples they accepted Jesus’ invitation to come and see where he lived.

How does one awaken?

How do we move through our lives, taking in information and experiences, toward greater aliveness and wholeness? How can we approach this year of studying the Wisdom Lineage in such a way that we are roused from sleep and open to God’s transformative grace?

Jesus Came to help people awaken

Cynthia Bourgeault says that Jesus came to help people awaken, “but awakening is not that easy, and as a moshel meshalim [Master of Wisdom], Jesus had mixed success. As the four Gospels all record, some people glimpsed what he was saying while others missed it altogether. Some people got it part of the time and missed it the rest. Some people woke up and others remained asleep….” (The Wisdom Way of Knowing: Reclaiming an Ancient Tradition to Awaken the Heart, p. 5).

The Helpers of God's Precious Infants

Reach out in love and compassion to mothers who are in crisis pregnancies and to those who have suffered the effects of abortion. The reasons that parents find themselves in these circumstances are varied and many, but God is there holding out His Hand of Love and Mercy. Why not come and join us and help to hold out God’s Hand of Love and Mercy? The next Rosary Procession Vigil will be held on Friday 19th January at St. Francis’ Church, 126 Week Street, Maidstone ME14 1RH. We begin with 10.30am Mass followed by Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. We begin our Rosary Procession at 11am following an Image of Our Lady of Guadalupe, to Marie Stopes abortion centre, Brewer Street, ME14 1RV, where we pray 15 decades of the Rosary and sing hymns, returning at approx.12.30pm for refreshments nearby.
