First Reading: (Isa: 45:1,4-6). Isaiah prophesies that Cyrus king of Persia will liberate the people of Israel from exile in Babylon. Although he does not know the Lord, Cyrus is part of God’s providential plan of salvation.

Second Reading: (1Thess 1:-5).  Paul gives thanks and praise to God for the faith of the Thessalonians, who accepted the Gospel message as the word of God.

The Gospel: (Mt.22:15-21). The Pharisees and the Herodians try to ensnare Jesus with a question about an unpopular tax, but are caught out and taught a lesson about giving God his due.

Responsorial Psalm (22): In the Lord’s own house shall I dwell for ever and ever.

Parish Faith and Culture day

Fr John wants to say a very, VERY BIG THANK YOU to all who, in so many ways made our celebration such a great day in the life of the Parish. He apologises for not thanking you on the day, perhaps there was too much happening or the old boy is getting forgetful!!




Guild of St. Stephen

We are recruiting Altar Servers. Any boy of girl who has celebrated their First Holy Communion is eligible to join the Guild of St Stephen. St Stephen is the patron of Altar Servers. Parents who wish their children be become Altar Servers are invited to give their names to Jacquie. Training and serving outfits will be provided.




CAFOD Family Fast Day

This weekend we will welcome the CAFOD speaker and envelopes with your contributions will be collected. These envelopes will be collected the following weekend of the 21st and 22nd of October.

Church Lights Update

ALLELUIA – The problem was much less serious than anticipated, so all is up and running. We thank those who kindly contributed to the cost of the investigation and work.




Co-Workers of St.Teresa of Calcutta

As the Christmas Season approaches the Co-Workers appeal to your generosity for gifts for the homeless. E.g. Woolly hats, scarves, gloves, socks, toiletries such as flannels, soap, hand towels and disposable razors (No second hand items please). Thank you for your support now and in the past. Items may be left at the Repository or telephone 0208 304 7996. The final date for collection will be the 5th November. (Therese Quirke)




Confirmation Candidates 2018

All those in Year 10 or over wishing to join our programme, are invited to fill in the form which they can get from the Presbytery. There will be a parents and candidate meeting 7.30 1st November in the hall.




First Holy Communion 2018

Parents with children in Year 3 at primary school be Catholic or not are invited to write to Fr. John if they wish to receive help in preparing their children for First Holy Communion. The cut off day for applications is Sunday 22nd October. Parents meeting 2nd November 7.30 in the Church.
