First Reading: (Ecc 35:12-14, 16-19).  As we search to live a good life, this reading sets out for us the importance of prayer, and not only of prayer, but of a real belief that, our prayer done in sincerity, is heard in heaven, no matter who we may be.  God is watching us so as to listen to our prayer.

Second Reading: (2 Tim 4:6-8, 16-18).  This reading, written towards the end of Paul’s life, and written not to a Church or a group, but personally to his fellow-worker, Timothy.  Whatever life throws at him, God is caring for him, as he is for us, and so we need never fear.  Paul gives his own life as a witness to the unfailing care of God.

The Gospel: (Lk 18:9-14).  Jesus teaches us how to pray by means of a parable, telling us it is the person who really knows the truth about themselves, and the truth about the mercy of God who prays the most real prayer.

Responsorial Psalm: This poor man called; the Lord heard him.

Month of the rosary: We are encouraged to pray the rosary daily

Parish Faith and Culture Day

Sunday was a great celebration of the life of our Parish Community expressed in faith, prayer, music, hymns, song, dance and lots of delicious food, all in very good company.  The spirit of the occasion was a reflection of the presence of the Holy Spirit animating and gathering us around Jesus Christ.  Thanks is due to all and sundry.  However, a special word of thanks to our Parish evangelisation group, to Phil and his team and the flag bearing little ones, to Pauline and her team for the beautiful flower arrangements, we thank the head teacher and staff and children of St Thomas More School.  Our thanks to Jacquie, the musicians and singers augmented so beautifully by the voices from KERALA.  We must not forget all who provided such a variety of food served so professionally by Anne and her team.  Our thanks to Blasco for the loan of the tent and the sturdy men who erected it and helped with the supervision of the bouncy castle, the children certainly enjoyed themselves.  A special thank you to the good Lord who gave us the good weather.  Hope nobody has been forgotten, if so apologies from Fr John.  Somebody thanked me for the beautiful day but it was not about me, it was about how great things happen when WE work together in mutual acceptance, respect and trust.

Once Again
Thanks to All

Year of Mercy Banner

It has presently rolled up in the sacristy, but where to display it? The Parish council addressed the issue at the recent meeting. It was noted that the painting hanging in the porch was originally within the church on the back wall. If it was re-positioned there, THE YEAR OF MERCY banner (THE PRODICAL SON) could then be displayed in the porch where the painting now hangs. How this might be best negotiated is under consideration.
