First Reading: (Acts 1:1-11): Between his resurrection and ascension, Jesus teaches his disciples and tells them to wait for the gift of the Spirit, after which they are to be his witnesses. He then ascends to the Father.

Second Reading: (Eph 1:17-23): St Paul prays for the Ephesians Church that they might know God and the hope and treasure that is theirs already because of the resurrection and ascension of the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Gospel: (Lk 24:46-53): In these closing words of Luke’s Gospel, the risen Jesus reminds his followers of the Scriptures which foretold him, commissions them to be his witnesses, tells them to wait for the Father’s gift, and blesses them before ascending into heaven.

Responsorial Psalm: God goes up with shouts of joy; the Lord goes up with trumpet blast.

Parish Visitation by Bishop Pat Lynch - May 20th to 22nd

Bishop Pat is now not coming on a flying visit, it is an official visitation. Might we call it a ‘mini parish ofstead’ to use education speak? We have had our parish mini mission. The programme will be as follows: Bishop Pat will join us for 10:00 mass on Friday May 20th after which he will visit St. Thomas More School.  He will then visit sick housebound parishioners (would you like to suggest some people?) On Friday 19.30 he will celebrate Confirmation with our young people.

Saturday 21st May: Bishop Pat will preach at the 18.30 mass and again at the 09.00 and 10.30 masses on Sunday. He intends to have lunch later on and then at 16.00 there will be a meeting with parishioners in our hall. I encourage you to come as I am sure Bishop Pat would very much like to experience being with a good cross section of parishioners and in this way getting a feel of what our parish community is like. So it is over to you. Any and all parishioners are welcome. You will notice there is no ‘GOLF SLOT’ in his programme, but I am sure he will back a winner at our RACE NIGHT ON Saturday May 21st.

Follow our cast of 100 and live animals around the estate as they bring the story to life. Having reviewed our audience feedback, we have made some exciting changes this year. Spirit in the City - Festival 1-4 June 2016

We have the pleasure of inviting you to Spirit in the City, our annual evangelisation festival in the West End of London. From 1st to 4th June 2016, the Catholic faith communities across the diocese will join forces to offer a Catholic festival dedicated to evangelisation in our capital city: with times of prayer, teaching, celebration and outreach. The festival aims to bring Catholic together and to reach out to the general public at the same time. It gathers people of all cultures through a joyful and dynamic Catholic celebration of faith in the heart of London. We are particularly excited about the opening night in the Prince Charles Cinema where the UK premier of the “Full of Grace”, a new Catholic movie about Mary is to take place and the Saturday festival in Leicester Square Gardens.
