Sunday 20th September b_20_20

First Reading (Wis 2:12, 17-20). The godless person sees neither grace nor happiness in life. The will aim to take down the virtuous person. The virtuous stand as a reminder to the godless of their shallowness and lawlessness. If you are virtuous and love God – be warned.

Second Reading (Jas 3:16-4:3). Jealousy and ambition breed disharmony. If humanity accepted God’s wisdom it will avoid disharmony and create the kind of considerate, compassionate space in which grows peace; and from which grows the peace marker.

Gospel (Mk 9:30-37). Jesus quietly reveals his identity to the apostles which journeying along with them. When they arrived at Capernaum he learned about their argument concerning who is the greatest. Jesus does not scold them but teaches what greatness is in the eyes of the Lord.

Sunday 20th September Responsorial Psalm: The Lord upholds my life.

  • Parish Diary: Parish Diary 2016 is available for free at the back of the porch, but donations are most welcome.
  • Church Works: The likely starting DATE is Thursday October 1st, weather permitting. Recent very heavy rain has slowed down work elsewhere and our turn comes later than expected. The COOKE lighting firm will check us out on Tuesday 22nd to make any necessary adjustments and replace blown bulbs.
  • Thought for the day: If we hold Jesus in our hearts, we can see Him in the face of every human person. St John Paul II.
  • Thought for the day: No one can make you feel inferior without your consent. Eleanor Roosevelt
  • Thought for the day: Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls, and looks like work. Thomas Edison

You may feel unqualified but training will be available and you will no doubt learn the ropes quite quickly. If you already have experience in banking or finance so much the better., but whichever way, your help will be very welcome. Thank you.
