National Campaign to empty unopened Red Boxes

The Mill Hill Misionaries and Missio are planning to celebrate all that the Red Box achieves thanks to the generous and prayerful support of so many Catholics across England & Wales. They want to raise awareness of the work of missionaries which is enabled thanks to the generous support of Missio’s APF and Mill Hill Missionaries worldwide. They want to celebrate the legacy of the may British and Irish missionaries over the years.
To achieve the greatest impact they are encouraging people to have their unopened Red Boxes emptied focussing on two weekends: 20-21 and 27-28June 2015.
Our parish representative Helen Ratcliff thanks all of you who recently took the Red Box and will contact you to let you know the collection arrangements.

For those to have had a Red Box for a number of years, she requests that you bring it to the presbytery or wait for your promoter to call at your home. These boxes need to be returned by the end of May, so that the collection can be sent to Missio.

Sick and Retired priests support funds

Our Parish team made up of Tom Breen, John Marsh, Jeanete Cousins and Brendan Norton meet with Fr John on Wednesday to plan the way forward. They decided to attach to next week’s newsletter some further information about how the campaign will operate in our parish under the auspices of our Archbishop Peter. Thank you.

Parish Evangelisation

A group of eight parishioners met on Thursday with Fr. John. We prayed asking the Holy Spirit to guide us in our searching, how as a parish we might best respond to Pope Francis’ ‘burning desire’ for all parishes to be Missionary in spirit, so that we can share the joy of Jesus Christ with people within and beyond the boundaries of our parish. This privilege and task is there for each of us. We meet again on Thursday May 28th at 20.00 in the presbytery to see how we as parishioners, so diverse in many ways, might become more conscious of each other, thus enriching our parish with the many gifts God has given to us. Do feel free to join us with your unique contribution.

Concentrated Wisdom

  • A lot of kneeling will keep you in good standing
  • Don’t wait for six strong men to take you to church.
  • Most people want to serve God, but only in an advisory capacity.
  • He who angers you controls you.
  • Worry is the darkroom in which negatives develop.

God does not call the qualified, he qualifies the called.
